Employees have an important role in an agency, especially in the service sector. The Faculty of Economics, as one of the relatively young faculties at Ganesha University of Education with a fairly large student body, requires competent staff in every faculty operational activity. In an effort to increase competency to provide optimal service, Undiksha Faculty of Economics staff carried out work visits/comparative administrative studies to Yogyakarta State University, especially to the Faculty of Economics.
Accompanied by the Deputy Dean II of the Faculty of Economics, I Putu Gede Parma S.St.Par., M.Par., the activity was carried out on 11-12 December 2018. Employees who took part in this working visit included staff in the student and academic department, department administration, public relations, and the faculty IT team. Also attended by the Head of the Administration Section and the Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Subdivision, Faculty of Economics; I Gede Pawana Ngurah Putra, S.T. and Putu Waspada, S.Pd.
The arrival of the Undiksha Faculty of Economics staff was warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Yogyakarta State University, Dr. Sugiharsono, M.Sc.; Deputy Dean III, Isroah, M.Sc.; and Head of Administration, Dra. Sri Ningsih and her staff. In his speech, Dr. Sugiharsono, M.Sc. explained the history of the founding of the Faculty of Economics at UNY, which is not much different from the Faculty of Economics at Undiksha, which was previously part of the Faculty of Social Sciences which then separated itself and gave birth to a new faculty in 2011. The speech was continued with a betel leaf from I Putu Gede Parma S.St.Par ., M. Par, explained the aim and purpose of the working visit, which was to ensure that staff had additional insight into providing services to the academic community.
The work visit was carried out in the form of a sharing session/discussion as well as direct observation of several objects and rooms in the UNY Faculty of Economics building. The sharing session for this activity was filled with an explanation from Sri Ningsih regarding the faculty’s organizational structure, where there are 39 staff members consisting of 16 employees in the academic sector and 23 employees in the general and finance departments. Apart from that, he explained that academic and student services and administration are mostly implemented using an online system, so the use of paper is very minimal. Isroah also added that there are online lectures packaged in a system entitled “Be Smart”, which is very useful in making efficient use of classrooms.
To conclude the sharing session, Parma hoped that the service system at UNY’s Faculty of Economics could be applied at Undiksha’s Faculty of Economics and other institutions which should be able to advance operational and teaching and learning activities as well as improve service to staff. (win)
